HUGE ATTENDANCE AT PUBLIC MEETING

About 150 Tickenham residents attended the public meeting on 2nd January to be informed about the West of England Joint Spatial Plan (November 2018). The Plan includes a proposal for a road from Hanham Way, Nailsea, to join the B3130 near Washing Pound Lane: it would carry hundreds more vehicles through the village to the M5 J20 at Clevedon.  So far as could be identified, all those present preferred a direct link road through the valley to J20 – as was proposed many, many years ago!  Obviously there are concerns about the impact of that route too, but it is unbelievable to think that a route through the heart of Tickenham is acceptable – or even sensible.  Such was the feeling at the meeting that an action group is likely to be formed to fight our corner!  A copy of the slide presentation from the public meeting is available on the Tickenham Parish Council page of this website.

Please watch the website for more information as another Plan – the Local Joint Spatial Plan which is really the transport detail of the overall JSP document – is likely to published for consultation in February.
