Sea Shanty Group Make Welcome Return to Tickenham.

Following their much-applauded visit last year, Bristol’s longest-serving sea shanty group, The Harry Browns, make a welcome return to Tickenham Church on Friday, March 15th.

They will be giving us songs from the sea from their expansive repertoire including contemporary and self-penned numbers.

Formed in the 1980s, they have toured Europe and sung at major festivals at home and abroad. So come along at 7.30 pm and have a fun evening in our lovely Church.

Tickets at £10 including refreshments on 07740 085015 or www.ticketsource.co.uk.

Draft response to NSC Pre-submission Local Plan

The Tickenham Road Action Group are finalising their response to North Somerset Council’s Pre-Submission Local Plan 2039.

The TRAG believe that the Local Plan does not address overall traffic growth over the 15-year period covered, nor does it provide a view of how the traffic will be routed along the key transport routes. Without these key routes being identified and developed, traffic of all types will continue to use rural lanes through villages on roads which are already inadequate for the volumes they carry.

Future developments which will see a significant increase in the volume of traffic over the next 15 years include: the building of 15,000 more homes in North Somerset, the development of 34,000 homes by 2040 in the Bristol Local Authority area, the creation of an industrial site near the M5 junction at Clevedon and an increase of 20 % in the capacity at Bristol Airport. The impact of these developments are not fully considered in the Plan.

The draft submission can be viewed here:

We would urge you to view our draft submission and let us know your thoughts on the points we are making. Please email these to bruce.tch@btinternet.com. The deadline for submissions to north Somerset Council is 5pm on January 22nd 2024.
